Cookie notice
explainquantum works without cookies. We use Google Analytics cookies only if you say yes in the banner, and a sign-in cookie only if you choose to sign in.
Always on, because the site needs them
- Your cookie choice (
eq.consent.v1, kept in your browser's storage) so we don't ask on every page.
Only if you ask for it
- Your saved progress (
eq.progress.v1, kept in your browser's storage), only after you press "Save my progress". It records which pages you finished and your answers, stays on this device, and is never sent to us unless you sign in. Delete it any time on the Your progress page. - Keeping you signed in (
eq_session, a cookie), only if you choose to sign in to keep your progress across devices. It lasts up to 90 days and ends when you sign out. A note in your browser's storage (eq.account.v1) remembers that this browser signed in. - Your chapter 17 card marks (
eq.finale.v1, kept in your browser's storage), only while saving is on, so the map at the end of the course remembers what you marked. - Your explain-back writing (
eq.finale.drafts, kept in your browser's storage), only while saving is on, so you don't lose what you typed in chapter 17. - Your quiz scores (
eq.prepost.v1, kept in your browser's storage), only while saving is on, so you can compare your scores before and after the course. - Your badge (
eq.badge.v1, kept in your browser's storage), whenever you claim a badge, even with saving off, so this device can show you your badge again. - A backup of an unreadable save (
eq.progress.unreadable, kept in your browser's storage), only if your saved progress can't be read, so nothing you saved is lost.
"Delete my saved progress" on the Your progress page removes all of these from this device.
Only if you say yes
- Google Analytics cookies (
_gaand_ga_*), which tell us how many people visit and how they use the course. They last 13 months (395 days) from your latest visit. Google Signals and advertising features are switched off. - A random learner ID (
eq.anon.v1, kept in your browser's storage) that links your activity across pages, so we can see where people get stuck.
Changing your mind
Use at any time. Saying no removes the Google Analytics cookies and the learner ID.
Bot check
When you start using a form (by clicking into it or typing), Cloudflare Turnstile loads and checks that you're not a bot. It doesn't load before then. Cloudflare receives your IP address for the check. It's strictly necessary to protect the forms from spam.
